The Bexley Selection Test is an 11 plus exam used by state-funded grammar schools in the London Borough of Bexley. It is used to assess:
Your child's progress and potential in core subjects
Whether your child is likely to thrive at grammar school
It is taken in September of Year 6.
Beths Grammar School (boys)
Bexley Grammar School (boys and girls)
Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School (boys and girls)
Townley Grammar School (girls)
All four grammar schools use the Bexley Selection Test and share the same admissions process.
Registration for the Bexley Selection Test is open online from 3rd May to 1st July 2022.
Registration is now closed for entering Year 7 in 2023.
Registration for entering Year 7 in 2024 will open in May 2023.
Key dates for the Bexley Selection Test (this takes place while your child is in Year 6):
12th September 2022: Your child sits the test on one day during this week
7th October 2022: You will receive your child's results
31st October 2022: Deadline for applying for school places (advised to wait for the test results before applying)
1st March 2023: You will find out which school has offered your child a place
There is no set pass mark for the Bexley 11 plus; candidates are ranked in order of their total age-standardised score and offered a place based on the school's Planned Admissions Number (PAN) and oversubscription criteria.
The council will set the selective score accordingly in conjunction with the four grammar schools each year. In 2021, 35% of candidates achieved the qualifying standard, of which 39% of eligible candidates were offered a place at a Bexley grammar school.
The Bexley Selection Test is administered by CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring). There are two papers which consist of a mix of four subjects:
Numerical reasoning (maths)
