Want to join a mission-driven, award-winning London startup committed to providing a world-class education to all? You're in the right place!
We are a group of educators, creators and developers behind the UK’s fastest growing and most innovative online learning platform.
We’re working to bring high-quality education to children globally, regardless of background.
We believe all children should have access to a great education. That's why we're committed to building an affordable and scalable online learning platform that children can use independently without a university-educated parent or an expensive private tutor.
Our success hinges on combining best-in-class adaptive learning technology with industry-defining teaching and testing materials. If you want to have a genuine impact on children's future, and you're passionate about education or accessible, high quality tech, get in touch!
You’ll join a talented, supportive team, who work hard but have fun. You’ll be given a lot of responsibility and trusted to complete your work in the way you think is best. You will solve difficult problems with a huge impact on positive social change, and you’ll learn a lot along the way.
We have a culture of freedom and responsibility: we want to attract and retain brilliant people and then give them maximum freedom and responsibility so that they can innovate and create great products that help people.
In practice, this means we operate with decentralised management; managers work with us to figure out what matters; we figure out how to do it.
By taking complete ownership of our roles and having the freedom to decide how we achieve our goals, we maximise our chance of innovation. This also means we’ll make more mistakes but that’s OK: mistakes are a great opportunity to learn and we share our learnings across the company.
To ensure we keep striving to be the best of our abilities, we encourage everyone in the company, regardless of seniority, to provide feedback to one another. By having a culture of constant feedback, we are constantly improving, and that makes us great at our jobs.
Our stack is predominately Javascript-based, with React on the front-end and NestJS microservices written in Typescript on the back-end. We also use Python microservices for our machine learning and decision engine. For data storage we use MySQL, MongoDB and Redis across different parts of the platform as well as elastic for log storage.
We have several environments hosted in the cloud on Kubernetes and make use of global CDNs to serve our content to customers all around the world. For CI and deployment we use Jenkins that leverages Kubernetes for scalable worker nodes.
Our belief is that you should always use the best tool for the job, so it's important that we collectively keep up to date with new technologies or practices, and ensure we regularly re-evaluate our own. If there’s a better solution that creates real world value, we’re keen to try it out.
