There are 11 grammar schools in Essex. There are no grammar schools in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk or Suffolk. Hertfordshire is home to partially-selective schools (no grammar schools).
10 schools in Essex are members of the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE).
Chelmsford County High School for Girls is not a member of the CSSE and has a different admission and testing process.

There are seven grammar schools in Merseyside. Four grammar schools on the Wirral share the same 11 plus admission process and exam, known as the Wirral Admissions Test. These schools are Calday Grange Grammar School, West Kirby Grammar School, Wirral Grammar School for Boys and Wirral Grammar School for Girls.
St Anselm’s College and Upton Hall School, while both also on the Wirral, have their own admission and testing process. The one remaining grammar school – The Blue Coat School – is in Liverpool and does not share admission and testing arrangements with the other grammar schools in Merseyside.
