Why I recommend using Atom to prepare for the Kent Test (11+)

Bella and her son Gabriel live in East Sussex, on the Kent border, with Gabriel’s dad and younger sister. Gabriel used Atom Home to prepare for the Kent Test (11 plus) last year, and was recently offered a place at his first choice school.

“Gabriel asked to do the Kent Test at the beginning of last year, so we didn’t have much time to prepare. I spoke to other parents and they were using tutors, so we looked into that initially. When I read about Atom I thought it sounded really good because Gabriel could use it when it suited him, so we signed up early last year. Like most families, we’re really busy. The tutors I contacted couldn’t work within our schedule, whereas Atom fitted seamlessly into our daily lives.
We really liked the idea of everything he needed to prepare being in one place and having access to countless mock tests. The interface is really accessible which made it easy to find everything. That really helped because, prior to signing up with Atom, we didn’t know where to start.
The hints were excellent. Atom provides an explanation, helpsheet and video for every question, so if he didn’t understand a question, he could learn how to answer it.
The little and often approach Atom advocates worked really well for Gabriel; he’d come home from school and do 20 minutes a day on Atom. It motivated him – he loved the rewards and Ato, the learning companion. The hints were excellent. We could see the progress he was making really clearly, and Gabriel enjoyed seeing his progress too. We also loved the live lessons – they’re really fun and engaging for children. Alongside Atom's live lessons, Gabriel also attended a local 11+ booster course for a few sessions which complimented his online studies.
We’re really happy we found Atom. Without Atom, Gabriel wouldn’t have had the confidence that he knew the answers. If we’d have used a tutor, I don’t think he would’ve processed the information in the same way because he’s a visual learner.
Results day was a really happy day! Gabriel was thrilled. He tried to be laid back about it, but when I told him the news I could see how much of a relief it was.
By the end of the process, I felt I knew the Kent Test inside and out, too. Atom made preparing for the Kent Test so simple and we felt really involved.
