What is the Buckinghamshire 11 plus?
The Buckinghamshire 11 plus test (known locally as the Secondary Transfer Test) is an exam used by state-funded grammar schools in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is used to assess:

The test is taken in September of Year 6.
Which schools use the Secondary Transfer Test?
The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools (TBGS) is a company set up by 13 grammar schools in Buckinghamshire in order to manager and administer secondary transfer testing (i.e. 11 plus exams for state-funded selective schools in the county). These schools are:

How do I register my child for the Secondary Transfer Test?
Registration for the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test is open online from 6th May to 24th June 2022.
Registration is now closed for entering Year 7 in 2023.
The application process for Year 7 in 2024 will open in May 2023.

When do 11 plus results come out in Buckinghamshire?
Key dates for the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (this takes place while your child is in Year 6):
13th September 2022: Your child can take the practice test
15th September 2022: Your child sits the Secondary Transfer Test
14th October 2022: You will receive your child's 11 plus results
31st October 2022: Deadline for applying for school places (advised to wait for the 11 plus results before applying)
1st March 2023: You will find out which school has offered your child a place
What subjects are covered?
The Buckinghamshire 11 plus test is produced by GL Assessment. There are two papers (each approximately one hour):
Paper 1: Verbal reasoning
Paper 2: Maths and non-verbal reasoning
What is the pass mark for the Buckinghamshire 11 plus?
The qualifying score for admission to a Buckinghamshire grammar school is 121 or above. This is calculated by age-standardising the scores from the three test sections, then adding them together using the following weighting:
Verbal reasoning: 50%
Maths: 25%
Non-verbal reasoning: 50%
