Founded in 1704 under the name of the Free School by Dame Elizabeth Fuller, the charity school eventually became the Watford Grammar Schools, for Boys and Girls respectively, in 1881. Watford Grammar School for Boys became an academy in 2010 and is accredited as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. The school has a wide and diverse catchment area and is a partially selective ‘all-ability’ school while having high academic standards.
