Founded in 1905 in Poole, Parkstone Grammar School is a girls' grammar school for Years 7 to 13. It has consistently been awarded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and is a school where girls are encouraged to succeed in all aspects of life, be it academic, musical, sporting, or any other interests of the student.

Admissions are determined by the child’s rank in the exams, as well as by whether the child is or has been in care. All children whose Education Health and Care (EHC) Plan names the school will be admitted. After this, the admissions policy is by catchment area:

  • BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3, who are currently entitled to the Pupil Premium

  • BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3, who are not entitled to the Pupil Premium

  • Girls living outside of BH12, BH13, BH14, BH15, BH16, BH17, BH18 and BH21 3, who are currently entitled to the Pupil Premium

  • All remaining applicants in order of exam score ranking

What is the Parkstone Grammar School 11 plus exam format?

The Dorset Consortium 11 plus entrance examination is provided by GL Assessments. It consists of a maths, English and verbal reasoning paper, lasting 45-50 minutes. Extra time can be requested during the registration period if supporting evidence is supplied.

The results of these tests, which are standardised according to the age of the child, will determine whether your daughter will be considered for a place at Parkstone Grammar School.
