Sheffield High School for Girls is an independent day school for girls aged 4 to 18 in the leafy suburb of Broomhall, Sheffield. The school is a member of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust) – a network of 24 independent girls’ schools in the UK dedicated to pioneering innovation in girls’ education.
Sheffield High School welcomes girls from a range of backgrounds and locations across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire, creating a student population which is rich in cultural and social diversity. The school is committed to its equal and inclusive learning environment – a place where diversity is celebrated, and inequality is challenged – and was awarded the Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award in 2021 as recognition.
Pupils are immersed in a purposeful learning environment at Sheffield High School. Learning is rigorous but fun, and mistakes are encouraged to enable girls to develop resilience, confidence, and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Each year’s exam results place Sheffield High School as one of the top performing schools in Yorkshire; in 2021, 84% of GCSE grades were A*/A/9/8/7 and in 2022, 79% of A level grades were A* or A.
Beyond the classroom, pupils have access to an extensive and diverse co-curricular programme (with over 100 different clubs and activities) and an enrichment programme which provides opportunities for all year groups to immerse themselves in creativity, risk-taking, teamwork, leadership, and competition. The school’s careers advice and support programme was the first in Sheffield to achieve Career Gold Mark accreditation.
